Diesel Down by 0.7¢ to $4.098 in 10th Straight Drop

Diesel’s national average price fell for the 10th straight week, this time by less than a cent, to $4.098 a gallon, according to Energy Information Administration data released April 10.
Highlights
- Diesel’s price, which nudged down seven-tenths of a cent in EIA’s most recent report, has decreased every week since it cost $4.622 on Jan. 30.
- A gallon of trucking’s main fuel now costs 97.5 cents less on average than at did at this time in 2022.
- The average cost of a gallon of diesel went down in eight of the 10 regions in EIA’s weekly survey, with the biggest drop of 5.8 cents coming in California. The price rose in the Midwest (1.6 cents) and the West Coast less California (four-tenths).
- Gasoline climbed 9.9 cents a gallon to reach a national average of $3.596. That's 49.5 cents a gallon less than it cost at this time a year ago.
