UPS Inc. announced an average rate increase of 4.9% for package, less-than-truckload and airfreight delivery, effective Dec. 29.

The increase covers the UPS Ground and UPS Freight segments, as well as air and international services, UPS said in the Oct. 20 announcement.

In June, the company announced that it would implement dimensional weight pricing beginning Dec. 29 for all Ground shipments and UPS Standard to Canada packages. UPS already uses dimensional pricing for ground packages that are 3 cubic feet or larger.

Customers will be able to download the 2015 rate and service guide Dec. 29, the company said.
